Acupuncture & Moxibustion Treatment is an ancient Chinese method of treating different diseases by inserting one or more very thin pins at certain points on the body. It has been practiced in China and the orient for more than 5000 years.
Acupuncture & Moxibustion Medical science is practiced based on keeping or restore balance of vital energy in the body and treating accordingly. The imbalance can be caused by physical or emotional difficulties. The acupuncture & moxibustion doctor restores the balance by inserting fine sterilized pins in to the points of the channels of energy, through stimulating the body’s own natural healing mechanisms. So, Acupuncture & moxibustion is the process of encouraging the body to promote natural healing. The general theory of acupuncture is based on the principle that there are patterns of energy flow through the body that are essential for health. Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease. Acupuncture & moxibustion corrects imbalances of flow. Throughout its long history, acupuncture treatment has established a solid reputation as an excellent alternative for health care and is very effective to treat some diseases, where other methods of treatment could not achieve good result or failed.

Today, acupuncture & moxibustion is an effective, natural and increasingly popular form of health care that is used by people whole over the world. The modern scientific explanation about the effectiveness of Acupuncture treatment is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain, including endorphins, enkephalins and other neuro-transmitters. Either these chemicals will change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones that influence the body’s own internal regulating system. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Acupuncture pins are so fine that there is no discomfort when they are inserted. The pins are usually left in for approximately twenty minutes to more. The doctor may also stimulate the acupuncture points using other methods, such as Moxibustion (a traditional technique that involves application of heat through the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb used to facilitate healing), Hammering, Cupping, Auriculotherapy and Electro-stimulation etc. in order to re-establish the flow.

This method of treatment is recognized and recommended by WHO and National Institutes of Health-USA as a scientific, free from side effect, complimentary, simple and very effective method of treatment for various diseases. Acupuncture treatment is being widely practiced and getting popularity in many developed countries. This method of treatment is already quite popular in the countries like America, France, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan, Korea etc. Though this treatment has already been started in our country but due to quite less number of medically educated qualified acupuncture doctors available in our country and lack of proper perception about the application of this method, the patients are depriving from the advantages of Acupuncture & Moxibustion treatment. An Acupuncture & Moxibustion doctor should possess adequate knowledge and experience for providing proper treatment to his/her patients. To avoid the unwanted complications in Acupuncture & Moxibustion treatment please avoid taking treatment by quack / fake Acupuncturist. There are many around us without proper qualifications. Inadequate education, knowledge and experience may lead to serious medical problems.

Acupuncture has several advantages. It is very effective to treat some diseases, where other methods of treatment could not achieve good result or failed. The diseases where acupuncture can be effective are different type of pain, arthritis or rheumatism, autism (ASD), depression, anxiety, delayed speech, sleep problems, sports Injuries, work injuries, spinal / backbone pain, trigeminal neuralgia, sciatica, degenerative disk disorders, attention deficit disorder, mental/behavioral problems, IBS, depression, epilepsy, tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, optic nerve atrophy, angina pectoris (heart’s pain), irregular heartbeat, headache, paralysis, hair falling, acne, Burger’s / Raynuad’s disease, chronic wounds, cerebral palsy, weak memory, dyslexia (weakness in study), causeless sterility, drugs addiction, pus from ear, tinnitus, nerve deafness, allergy, over weight, certain males and females problems, post-radio / chemotherapy effects, cold sensitivity etc. This therapy does not require any medicine. I have polycystic ovary syndrome, which has always given me problems with irregular periods and mood changes. The acupuncture treatment provided here helped regulate these symptoms visibly: my periods finally were regular and my mood changes were under control. Dr. Zou always provided tailored treatment to my circumstances (where was I in the cycle, body temperature or anything else I might have been experiencing at the time). I sincerely appreciate her help, knowledge and professionalism. Istead of focussing on a series of symptoms, Dr. Zou provided an integrated and tailored treatment approach focussing on the root of the problem and offered advice for my day to day. Her expertise helped me regulate my periods and, with that, I also felt more in control of my day to day for the first time. Thank you.

I have benefitted from Dian's treatment physically and mentally for many years and, as 'an older person' she keeps me fit and active. She is also a kind and caring person.

I sought help for unexplained infertility, and Dr Zou asked me to give her three menstrual cycles. It was either this, or starting medical treatment. Sure enough, I am writing this with a 4 month pregnant belly! She was professional, kind but, most of all, she held me accountable for making sure I was listening to what my body needed. She told me about my body type and what it can and can't handle and gave me advice on what to do outside of acupuncture to further my progress. Within just a cycle or two my fertile signs had dramatically improved already. Thank you so much!! Can't wait to meet my baby!!

I broke my wrist just after Christmas. I had surgery and excellent treatment from the NHS. I did all prescribed exercises but did not regain full feeling in my fingers. My doctor told me that I may have severed a nerve and there was nothing that could be done. I am a strong, fit, active 76 year old grandmother who can touch type and loves to sew, craft and cook. A friend recommended Daian. Thank goodness I took her advice and had a course of treatment. I now have full feeling and strength back. It’s hard to believe the fracture ever happened. She is an excellent practitioner and a charming, intelligent, sympathetic person. I have had acupuncture in the past and greatly appreciate her skill.

I first received acupuncture when on a cruise last autumn and my back went causing great pain. I was surprised at how effective it was. On a recent trip to see my sister in Shropshire the pain returned and I saw Dr Zou several times. She was excellent and the pain reduced considerably. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Zou. She was really caring and knowledgeable and imparted her knowledge to both my sister and myself. It was so helpful and we are following her advice. I have booked to see her again when up in Shrewsbury again.

I went to see Daian a few months ago due to health problems caused by recent bereavement. I was suffering from anxiety and insomnia not responding very well to medication. I started seeing results after just a few acupuncture sessions and now I am anxiety free and able to sleep well without any medication. I found Daian to be a very experienced and knowledgeable practitioner, who takes the time to explain everything and to answer any questions I may have. She is friendly and kind and was very patient with me at times when I was very anxious. I feel she has given me my life back and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

What Our Patients Say

  • ~ Mrs Gwilt

"A number of years ago I developed a severe back pain due to a slight curve of the spine which the Xray had shown. The doctor prescribed pain killers & a set of exercises for me to do. A friend who at the time was having acupuncture for her shoulder advised me to consult Dr. Daian to see what she could do for me, which I did. She explained that it would never be healed but she could help. At the time most weeks I was in pain. Not only that but I found it difficult to sleep. Now (after treatment) rarely does the pain wake me. I am not without pain but it is under control of which I am highly grateful."
